About NOUN

Noun adalah sebuah kata yang digunakan untuk suatu nama bagi sesuatu seperti; seseorang,

binatang, suatu objek/benda, sebuah tempat, situasi, ataupun suatu ide.

Noun dibagi menjadi 6 macam:

1. Proper Noun: Digunakan untuk nama orang, negara atua semisalnya yang diawali dengan huruf

kapital.

contoh:

- Zaenab Listen to the Radio. (zaenab = nama orang)

- Jakarta is the capital if Indonesia. ( Indoensia= nama sebuah negara).

2. Common Noun : Menunjuk pada seuatu yang masih umum.

- Take your book, please!( Book= tidak menunjuk secara jelas jenis buku, misal novel, kamus

dll).

- I met a man yesterday.

3. Material Noun : menunjuk pada bahan atau substansinya.

contoh:

- This ring made of gold. (gold= matter/bahan)

- That lady is dressed in cotton.

4. Collective Noun: Menunjuk sutau kata secara kolektif.

contoh:

- The army made the ceremony. (army= angkatan darat)

- I see a large congregation in the mosque. (congregation= Perkumpulan)

5. Absract Noun: Menunjuk pada suatu kualitas, atau aksi.

Contoh: The teacher will be happy with your kindness. (kindness= baik hati (kualitas rasa))

abstract noun dapat dibentuk dari Verbs, Common Noun, Adjectives.

Contoh:

Dari Verbs: advise - advice | believe - belief | Live - life | Free - freedom

Dari Common Nouns: brother - brotherhood | friend- friendship | Boy - boyhood

Dari Adjective: dark - darknes | poor - poverty | true - truth | High - height

6. Possessive Noun: kempemilikan

contoh:

- Ali's house

- Hani's hand
